California Grown Dragonfruit Cuttings - Purple Haze Variety
π§βπΎ Notes from Farmers Leo and Lucky
Purple Haze is one of the classics, and there's a reason it's stayed popular for so long. It was bred by Paul Thompson, the same grower behind a lot of the varieties people chase, and it delivers on both looks and flavor.
π± Growing it
It's a fast, aggressive grower that fills in quickly, so it establishes well and rewards you sooner than a lot of varieties. In good conditions it can push up to three fruiting cycles in a single year, which is a big part of why growers keep it around.
π The fruit
The flesh is a deep magenta purple, and the fruit gets large, sometimes up to two pounds. If you've only ever had the pale, watery store version, this is a completely different experience.
π Taste
Rich and sweet with clear lychee and grape notes, almost like sweet white grape crossed with lychee. High sugar, around 18 to 20 brix, with just a touch of tang.
π¦ What you get
A healthy 16 to 24 inch cutting, ready to root. It does need a pollinator to set fruit, and it pairs really well with Delight or Physical Graffiti if you're deciding what to grow alongside it. It ships straight from our rows in Fallbrook β no distributor, no warehouse layover.
π Shipping
Everything ships UPS Ground.
Purple Haze is the one longtime collectors keep coming back to.
